1412, 1438, 1500 and 1514 Capitola Road Mixed-Use Development, Santa Cruz County, CA
Traffic impact analysis for a residential, health clinic, office and retail development in the unincorporated Live Oak neighborhood outside Santa Cruz, California. Analysis included a parking demand estimate using activity from similar components in Santa Cruz County. A survey was also conducted of current clinic patients (in English and Spanish) to aid in determining non-automotive use in the project trip generation.
John / Abbott Master Plan, Salinas, CA
Traffic impact analysis for a 21-acre residential, commercial, office and hotel development project at a former produce-processing facility. Analysis included evaluation of onsite and offsite intersection operations and pedestrian, bicycle, and transit circulation. Recommended intersection improvements were cognizant of an adjacent at-grade arterial railroad track crossing and its potential future grade separation.
2809 El Camino Real Senior Apartments, San Mateo County, CA
Traffic impact analysis for a senior apartment complex on El Camino Real near Redwood City. Analysis primarily focused on pedestrian, bicycle, and trans circulation, including existing and future pedestrian and bicycle facilities within a 0.25 to 2-mile radius of the study project site. A comprehensive site plan evaluation was also performed that analyzed the adequacy of sight distance at the driveway of the project parking garage, an evaluation of emergency vehicle access, and identifying potential locations for a project loading zone.

Salinas (Sala) Gateway Center, Salinas, CA
Traffic impact analysis for proposed 17-acre shopping center with a motel and gas station just north of Salinas. Analysis included a preliminary phasing analysis and a full traffic impact analysis. The analysis also accounted for proposed future roadway extension and adjacent industrial development. The proximity of a proposed driveway to an existing signalized intersection required detailed signal coordination analysis. An Intersection Control Analysis (now an ISOAP analysis) was also performed at an interchange ramp intersection in close proximity to the project site.

404 West Beach Street (Sumano Bakery) Relocation, Watsonville, CA
Traffic impact analysis for proposed relocation of an industrial bakery in southwestern Watsonville. Trip generation for the project reflected a unique shift schedule that included both late night and early morning employees, as well as local and regional shipping of completed bakery products. Analysis also accounted for planned roadway improvements associated with a roadway corridor plan in the city's southwestern industrial area.
Bengard Agricultural Employee Housing, Monterey County, CA
Traffic impact analysis for a 360-employee farmworker housing facility near Salinas. Analysis included evaluation of intersections in eastern Monterey County plus the project access, including the effects of a nearby elementary school. A customized trip generation estimate was prepared, based on the trip activity of another farmworker housing facility in Monterey County.

A traffic impact analysis for the campus remodeling and expansion projects at the Waldorf School Santa Cruz campus. Driveway sight distance at the project entrance was evaluated, in light of the circuity and grades of its alignment near the campus. Traffic and parking operations during a campus special event were also evaluated, as well as an estimate of campus Vehicle Miles Traveled with the expanded enrollment.

Prepared a traffic impact analysis for a low-income subdivision south of Hollister. Evaluated sight distance for the project driveway and addressed potential effects of the planned realignment of the frontage roadway.

Unique/Custom Trip Generation Estimates
California State University Monterey Bay (CSUMB) 2019-2020 and 2021-2022 Campus Traffic Generation, Seaside/Marina, CA
Assisted in preparation of campus trip generation analysis for the Academic Year 2019-2020 and 2021-2022. Project effort included collection and analysis of roadway segment volumes, through traffic estimates within the campus, traffic activity of dormitories located outside the campus code, and internal trip activities. Adjustments for typical campus trip activities were made due to the early closure of the CSUMB campus due to COVID-19 shelter-in-place orders in 2020.

Miramonte Onsite Transportation Review, Soledad, CA
Evaluation of onsite circulation analysis for the approximately 2,500-unit Miramonte Specific Plan development. Tasks included:
- Internal traffic forecasts
- Recommended intersection traffic controls, turn lane locations and suggested vehicle lane storage
- Consistency between proposed site roadway configurations and existing roadways
- Verification of student pathways to proposed schools
- Recommendations of potential intersection and mid-block crosswalks
- Evaluations of neighborhood street layouts to discourage cut-through traffic.
Necessary off-site transportation improvements were also itemized and prioritized per project phasing schedule.

Complete Streets Analysis
West Street Road Diet Feasibility Analysis, Soledad, CA
Prepared a feasibility analysis for a proposed road diet. Evaluated feasibility based on both segment and intersection operations. Analysis included both existing and future traffic volume scenarios, the impacts of a large, approved development project, and the effects of two proposed roadway extensions. Recommendations were made regarding where the road diet was feasible, what additional improvements were necessary, and the timeframes when certain improvements would need to be installed relative to the roadway extensions.

As part of an environmental impact analysis, reviewed a traffic study for a proposed assisted living facility in south Hollister. The review included the trip generation, operational analysis, onsite circulation, and recommended improvements. Recommendations for modifications to the report were made as necessary.

Infrastructure Feasibility and Modification Analysis
Robertson Street / Soquel Drive Improvement Alternatives Analysis, Santa Cruz County, CA
Evaluation of multiple improvement alternatives associated with an intersection signalization, including multiple lane and signal phasing options, corridor coordination, and potential modifications and turn restrictions at an adjacent intersection. A detailed queuing analysis was also conducted and simulation videos of the study corridor were prepared.

As part of an on-call agreement, evaluated roadway corridor with closely spaced intersections and busy shopping center driveways, including intersection operations and simulations. Congestion and safety issues were also detailed, as well as a city-proposed improvement option.

Intersection Safety and Operational Assessment Process

First Street / Kelton Drive Intersection Control Evaluation, Gilroy, CA
As part of a signalization design, assisted in the preparation of an Intersection Control Evaluation (ICE) at a state highway intersection. The potential benefits of a roundabout versus a traffic signal were quantified using the expected delay, collisions, and emissions with each facility. This data was paired with the potential construction, maintenance and operation costs associated with each traffic control option to identify the most cost-effective alternative.

Collision Analysis
City of Watsonville Staff Augmentation Services - Collision Analysis, Watsonville, CA
As part of an on-call agreement, analyzed multiple years of collision data for the City of Watsonville, in order to identify frequencies of most common collision types and identify intersections with the highest frequency of collisions. The total number of collisions were categorized by type, pedestrian/bicycle involvement, day of week and time of day when occurred, and other factors.

As part of an on-call agreement, prepared a multi-way stop warrant evaluation. The evaluation included a field visit, operation analysis, collision history review, pedestrian activity, stopping sight distance evaluation, and other steps required by the California Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (CA MUTCD). Recommendations for conversion to multi-way stop control were made as warranted.

Preparation of a citywide speed survey for the City of Cupertino. A total of 70 roadway segments were surveyed across the city. Adjustments to the percentile speed were made per roadway geometric or land use information. Collision histories were also evaluated for the surveyed roadways.

Assisted in preparation of an air quality district grant application for Santa Cruz County to fund an adaptive traffic signal project for six intersections on Soquel Drive. This included trans text preparation, quantification of necessary metrics, research of background information, and assistance in preparing necessary "Before and After" study scope and budget.
